St. Laurent School Principal
On behalf of the PRSD Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce the appointment of CRYSTAL MILLAR-COURCHENE as the Principal of St. Laurent School effective September 2020.
A St. Laurent School graduate, Crystal holds a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts, and a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education – Indigenous Knowledge from the University of Winnipeg.
Crystal’s career includes 5 years as a K-6 classroom teacher, 3 years as an Aboriginal Education Support Teacher, and 1 year as Program Support Services at the Prince Charles Education Resource Centre; all with the Winnipeg School Division.
For the 2019/2020 school year, Crystal had the opportunity to support St. Laurent School as Vice Principal and Indigenous Academic Achievement Coordinator. She shared her leadership in an open and honest environment and encouraged the respectful exchange of ideas with many stakeholders.
In recognition of Crystal’s strong commitment and work in Indigenous Education, Crystal received the Aboriginal Circle of Educators (ACE) Award – Culture in Education Award in 2017.
Crystal is a lifelong learner who is committed to education, Indigenous learning, professional development, students, staff, and to St. Laurent community.
PRSD welcomes Crystal’s appointment to the principal’s position at St. Laurent School. We look forward to working with Crystal as she continues to support the many positive HAWKS’ initiatives with St. Laurent students and staff.
