Paint Nights have become a major trend globally. If you attend a “Paint Night” you would expect to be provided with a framed white canvas to paint on, acrylic paint, and everything else you would need in order to complete your painting. You would also expect to be provided with step by step instructions from an Art instructor/teacher that will help you accomplish your masterpiece. The main focus of a “Paint Night” is to have fun and create your own unique masterpiece. There is one rule that comes along with a “Paint Night”, which is not to judge your own painting as well as others paintings, and most importantly, to have fun.
The Grade 7/8 Elm Creek School participated in their own “Paint Night” just before Spring Break. The Grade 7/8 class was provided step by step instructions to create a tree painting which included the incorporation of a light source that was emphasized with the use of tinting in their tree leaves. One of the great lessons of this project was that although the students were instructed on how to make their painting by observing the Art teacher, they each made their own professional masterpiece, not a single painting looked like the other, and they had fun while painting.
