Students at Elm Creek School held a World Awareness Day, May 12th. Students learned about world issues like poverty, access to clean drinking water, the experience of being a refugee and fair trade. We presented the Alderwish’s, a family from Syria, with bikes we purchased through bake sale fundraising, and we received a special banner of appreciation for our work with Backpacks 4 Sierra Leone. Many students also participated in the 30 Hour Famine in conjunction with this very educational and eye-opening day.
