Staffing Announcement – EAL Leader

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Leader

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Reimer as the EAL Leader for the Prairie Rose School Division effective September 5, 2017.

Mary has been teaching English Language Arts for over 10 years. In her experience, she has worked on the Provincial Reading and Writing Standards Committee in New Brunswick where she developed reading and writing standards to be use provincially. Mary has also held a Supplementary Position of Responsibility in ELA & Literacy assisting administrators and division staff to achieve literacy goals.

Starting as an EAL learner herself, Mary began her primary education at Graysville Elementary as a German speaking student. She completed her Bachelor of General Studies at Brandon University, Bachelor of Education at University of New Brunswick and has a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of New Brunswick. Mary has researched topics in her studies including standardized testing, cross-curricular education, cultural diversity within the classroom, and the Hutterian education system within southern Manitoba.

PRSD welcomes Mary’s expertise in EAL learning, achieving literacy goals, and preserving cultural identity within our division.
