Working with teachers and divisional resources, the successful candidates will assist in developing lifelong learners in a safe and supportive environment. Preference will be given to those applying with an aptitude for working with all students. Educational Assistants are 10 month employees, employed from September till June.
POSITIONS:
041-19-20 – Boyne View (Rosevalley Colony)
- located 18 km west of Carman
- 5.5 hours/day
042-19-20 – James Valley Colony
- located 8km south of Elie on PTH #248.
- 5.5 hours/day
043-19-20 – Maxwell Colony/Lakeside Colony
- located 16 KM northeast of Elie on PR #424
- 4.0 hours/day – Alternating days between Colonies
046-19-20 – Waldheim Colony
- located 10 km southwest of Elie on Provincial Road # 248
- 5.5 hours/day
047-19-20 – Lakeside Colony
- located 15 km west of Winnipeg.
- 5.5 hours/day
048-19-20 – Huron Colony
- located on Bernard Rd, 8 km west of Elie.
- 5.5 hours/day
Salary for all above positions is $15.82/hour as per Collective Agreement.
Start date for all above positions is September 3, 2019
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience; Educational Assistant Diploma is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with children within a multi-grade environment.
- Demonstrated ability to have good interpersonal skills with staff and community.
- Willing to respect and adhere to Hutterian Colony cultural expectations.
- Ability to take direction and work cooperatively with other adults.
- Demonstrated skill in supporting the goals of an Individualized Education Plan.
- Ability to maintain daily records of activities and observations.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and strategies for helping children learn.
- Willingness and ability to support and guide children with challenging behaviour.
- Training/experience with reading and numeracy supports an asset.
- First Aid/CPR Training and WEVAS Training an asset.
