AN ELM CREEK SCHOOL COMMUNITY MEMBER BECOMES ONE OF CANADA’S NEWEST CITIZENS!
Mrs. Raquel Salamatin, a member of the Elm Creek School staff team, was recently recognized by her fellow staff members and the students for completing the Canadian Citizenship Test! Mrs. Salamatin wrote the test at The Forks in Winnipeg recently and found out she had done so with a perfect score of 100%!
Raquel is now eligible to become an “official Canadian citizen” later this spring when she participates in an oath taking ceremony at the Manitoba Legislative Building! Raquel’s daughter, Karen, also successfully completed the test at the same time as her mother. The Salamatin family, which includes Raquel’s husband, Oscar, and their second daughter, Carla, immigrated to Canada four years ago from their native country of the Philippines.
To celebrate this special honour for Raquel, students and staff at Elm Creek School dressed in “red and white” on Monday, April 13th! The school’s staff team had a cake made for Raquel as well. She was also presented with “Canadian-themed” gifts for the occasion!
The entire Elm Creek School community is very proud to have one of Canada’s newest citizens among them! Congratulations, Raquel Salamatin!!
