Position: Local Network Administrator (Network Technician)
Reports to: Information Technology Supervisor
Policy: The Local Network Administrator reports to the Information Technology Supervisor and provides technical support of local area networks and cloud-based services. This position also provides computer technology support to ensure full operational and educational use within the Prairie Rose School Division. The Local Area Network Administrator provides hardware and software support as it relates installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of computer equipment, mobile devices, peripherals, ITV distance delivery equipment, servers and network equipment to prevent service interruption. This position instructs personnel in the operation of computers, mobile devices, peripherals and related equipment including ITV distance delivery equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Supports local physical and virtual servers and server applications, including, but not limited to, Windows File and Print Servers, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS
- Configure and support Cloud services, including, but not limited to Google Workspace Admin and Microsoft Azure
- Configure and maintain local network switches and routers
- Configure and maintain computers, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Install, configure and assist in the use of various operating systems and software applications
- Trouble shoot and resolve software and hardware related problems.
- Provision user accounts for computer, network, application, and email access and manage digital file storage
- Troubleshoot and assist with repair of WAN equipment
- Install and maintain network data cables and terminations
- Deploy and manage WLAN access points
- Deploy and manage IP phone, surveillance and communication systems
- Setup and maintain ITV distance delivery equipment
- Research and evaluate new technology that may be relevant to the divisions needs
- Provide instructional material and training to staff on use of technology
- Maintain accurate documentation and logs for hardware and software
- Organize and respond to user submitted tech requests
- Keep skills up to date by attending training conferences, courses or workshops
Education and Experience:
- Training at College or University with emphasis on server and network technology
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or in cooperation with others
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
- Be able to move equipment weighing up to 40lbs
