WELLNESS DAY AND BULLY-PROOFING PRESENTATIONS A SUCCESS AT ELM CREEK SCHOOL!
Elm Creek School recently held a Wellness Day for students in Grade 7-12 on Thursday, December 3rd! The idea for a Wellness Day came about after it was identified by students and staff as an important school plan priority in the area of Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing for this current school year. Planned by the Grade 7-12 student council and teacher representatives, the day included:
- Keynote motivational speaker and comedian, Big Daddy Tazz, who shared his own personal journey with mental health challenges and emphasized to students the importance of maintaining positive mental health in a message that was filled with humour and hope!
- Activities, presentations and workshops on a variety topics: Zumba, Kickboxing, Zentangles Art, Manitoba Public Insurance’s Texting and Driving simulator, Mental Health presentation, Yoga, Addictions Foundation of Manitoba Drug and Alcohol presentation, Open Gym and a Snowmobile and ATV Safety presentation.
The Kindergarten to Grade 6 students had a very engaging book reading and talk on bully-proofing by Big Daddy Tazz during this special day as well!
Elm Creek School students and staff thank the Wellness Day and Bully-proofing organizers (student council and staff reps), along with all of the guest presenters and speakers, for making the day so meaningful and special for everyone who participated!
