Miami School is accepting applications for a vice-principal effective the 2019-2020 school year.  This 1.0 FTE position is 0.5 FTE administration time and 0.5 FTE instructional.   The instructional time will be determined based on skills and experience of the candidate.

Miami School is a K-12 school located in Miami, Manitoba, which is approximately 95 kilometers southwest of Winnipeg, MB on Highway #3.  Miami School has a professional and support staff compliment of approximately 30 for 272 students.

The vice-principal has an important team-focused leadership role in supporting the principal’s leadership within the five mains domains of PRSD school leadership; promoting public education, promoting student learning, promoting professional practice, promoting the development of educational culture and climate, and promoting responsible organizational leadership.  The vice-principal will also provide the required school leadership support to the principal as they work with their school community to promote lifelong learning consistent with the Prairie Rose School Division’s Mission, Vision and Values.

The selected candidate for this position will be committed to continuous improvement of self and others, values and builds leadership capacity of all reporting staff, and will possess an ability to nurture a school culture that is focused on positive and respectful working relationships. The selected candidate will have experience in K-12 curriculum and High School graduation requirements. A background in High School Special Programs and Credit Recovery is highly desirable.

The selected candidate will be a demonstrated life-long learner who has a Bachelor of Education degree and who is either working towards or has completed a Masters’ degree in education administration, special education, or curriculum development. A Level II Principal’s certificate is considered an asset.
